Daily Life in Saskatoon- 8 flaps

    Language- In Saskatoon people speak English!  Many speak Ukrainian and Cree. 

    - Use the interactive website to research on of the other flaps (more time tomorrow)

Looking at 8 different parts of culture: language, music, dance, stories, clothing, art, festivals, and food. 

Dance- Hopak is a dance with at least 4 people (2 girls, 2 boys) The dancers                    spin lots! The men jump up in the air, do splits and touch their feet!

Clothing-  They wear lots of red.  Red= wealth $$.  Their blouses have                                 embroidery.  Ladies wear headdresses.

Music- Lira= sounds like bagpipes. Sopilka= sounds like a recorder or flute.                     Kobza= sounds like a guitar with extra strings.  Tsymbaly= sounds like a               old old piano and is played with wooden mallets.

Food-  They enjoy cabbage rolls. It is veggies rolled in cabbage. 

           Paska is a sweet bread - it's very decorative.

           Perrogies-  pastry filled with potatoes.
